Minors, Majors and Advanced Entry in Psychology
Psychology (BA) Double Major
Students registered in a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program within the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities at the university have the opportunity, in most cases, to combine two majors within the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities concurrently as a double major (note - some restrictions apply). Double major program maps have been approved by the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities and are available through the Academic Advising Office.
Students undertaking a double major within the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities will, in most cases, be required to complete more than 120 credit hours. Students wishing to declare a double major must consult with the Academic Advising office.
Please note that at this time, the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities does not offer a double major program for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Psychology.
Psychology (BA) Minor
A minor in psychology is available to students of any other major at Ontario Tech (subject to approval by their home faculty) who would like to supplement their studies with foundational knowledge in psychological principles, formalized training in psychological research methods and statistics, and an appreciation for the ethical and judicial treatment of persons.
Students should be aware of course prerequisites needed to pursue this minor. The psychology minor consists of six courses (18 credit hours).
Please note that Forensic Psychology students are excluded from pursuing a minor in Psychology.

Psychology (BA) - Advanced Entry
The Psychology - Advanced Entry program provides college graduates with the opportunity to apply their two-year college diploma toward a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology. Psychology (BA) - Advanced Entry students will take the same mandatory courses as other Psychology students in their third and fourth years, but the order that these courses are taken will differ to facilitate completion of all course requirements within a two-year period.

GAS Transfer
Students who have successfully completed a General Arts and Sciences Certificate - Liberal Arts Transfer option may apply for direct admission into the second year of the General Psychology program. The program map is the same as the BA in Psychology for years 2, 3 and 4, but students who do not have two college-level biology credits will need to take BIOL 1841U – Essentials of Biology in the first semester of year 2.
