What is the AI for Professional Communicators specialization?


Professionals are adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) in fast-changing industry sectors. Communication professionals use AI as a foundational digital technology in apps, platforms, and internet browsers. They use AI to produce creative media projects that include videos, graphics, scripts, written information, or voiceovers. The specialized Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Digital Media Studies (CDMS) – AI for Professional Communicators will be valuable for students seeking to work in both private and public sectors. Entrepreneurs, business communicators, technical communicators, public relations specialists, policy analysts, content creators, media influencers, professional trainers, and citizens use AI to enhance their content generation skills. However, professional communicators also require the ability to analyze contexts, media forms, social values, and audiences to ensure fundamental ethical practices. Unique to the Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Digital Media Studies (CDMS) – AI for Professional Communicators specialization, students will have the opportunity to draw on instructor expertise to help sustainable, value-based, ethical growth in content creation fields. A cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 in the Specialization courses is required to successfully complete the AI for Professional Communicators Specialization.

How can I apply?

Although admission to the CDMS - AI for Professional Communicators specialization program is competitive, the specific grade average required for admission varies from year to year and preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications. At a minimum, current Ontario secondary school student applicants to the program must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M credits including English (ENG4U), and demonstrate proof of English-language proficiency.
