Mental Health, Addictions and Drug Policy
People experiencing mental illness and using legal and illegal substances sometimes pose particular challenges for criminal justice system personnel. Often people do not receive the treatment they require and rather than getting dealt with as a health issue, people are instead managed through the criminal justice system. Our Criminology faculty examine these issues through topics such as marijuana use, homelessness, street life, addiction and recovery, harm reduction, drug policy, and people experiencing psychiatric disabilities.
